DBT Therapy is an evidence based therapy that is proven by research to help you gain relief from distressing emotions, suicidal and self harming urges. Our goal is to help you remain out of a hospital setting with our intensive program while learning how to manage high risk urges such as suicidality and self harm urges. DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy. A “dialectic” is finding the synthesis between two opposing points of view in order to create balance. DBT’s main goal is to teach clients new behaviors while building a life worth living. It teaches clients how to regulate their emotions, tolerate their stress level so that they can progress through life, mindfulness skills, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. As your mental health counselors, you will have 24/7 phone coaching to us to get "on the spot coaching" when you are in a crisis or feeling a highly distressing emotion.
1. Once a week Individual Therapy with an intensively trained DBT therapist
2. Once a week Group Therapy where you will learn skills to regulate your emotions, learn how to tolerate distressing emotions and urges, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
3. 24/7 Phone Coaching where you will be able to contact your individual therapist in between sessions when you are experiencing distressing emotions, having high urges for suicide and self harm, or if you are having an urge for a behavior that you are trying to work on. The therapist will give you skills in the moment to help regulate your emotions and teach you ways to reduce your urges in the moment. This will help you integrate the skills you are learning in therapy and have support in between therapy sessions.
